Packed with sweet plum and cherry flavors, this red is harmonious, its fruit and spice notes melding with the smooth texture, lively acidity and firm yet refined tannins. Extremely long, with an aftertaste of spice. Ready now, but should continue to improve in the cellar. Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino.
Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino. A fine Tuscan vintage with a precocious growing season followed by a very hot July. Rains in August slowed things a bit but the harvest was still around two weeks earlier than normal. An elegant vintage which is a bit less opulent than the fine 2006.
Refined, leafy, elegant wine with less depth and intensity than 2010. Fresh and pure on the palate with soft raspberry fruit merging with a hit of tobacco and autumn leaves. Drinking at its best over the next 3–4 years. (AH)
