The 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is also a strong performance in this more challenging year, revealing a classic bouquet of citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers, iodine and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's impressively deep and layered, with racy but nicely integrated structuring acids.
There is an interesting minty hint to the wonderfully elegant and overtly floral-suffused aromas of citrus confit, shellfish and green apple. The almost painfully intense middleweight flavors possess strikingly good transparency on the borderline aggressively stony, focused and impressively long finish. I very much like the inherent sophistication as well as the overall sense of balance. In a word, stunning.
Pale lemon colour, with an exquisite nose, floral and fresh fruit, less saline, with some apple behind. Again, I am quite impressed by the density achieved in this difficult vintage. A fine long aftertaste.
