White peaches and pears can be discerned in the nose of the 2001 Chevalier-Montrachet. This highly concentrated wine (though less so than the Criots) displays layers of minerals, gravel, and crisp pears. It has outstanding depth, balance, grip, and length.
A rather compact nose, showing toast and coffee aromas. On the palate this is round, fleshier than the 1999. Powerful and accessible now, yet will continue to improve.
