The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres comes from a 0.29-hectare parcel of vines. It has a perfumed, subtle bouquet with precise walnut, limestone and smoke aromas that unfurl from the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fine line of acidity, reticent at first but with aeration it reveals fine mineralite, a slight flintiness on the edgy finish, if not quite the persistency of a top Les Perrieres. Still, this is a succinctly crafted Meursault that should age well.
This also reflects the touch of petrol on the nose of the notably ripe white orchard fruit and acacia blossom aromas. There is a really lovely sense of tension to the mineral-infused and intense medium-bodied flavors that possess a suave mouth feel thanks to the abundance of sap, all wrapped in a balanced and wonderfully long finish. This should drink well both you and after 6 to 8 years of bottle age if desired.
