Revealing scents of honey, white flowers, pear and baking spices, the 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Plessys is medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a racy spine of acidity and a pure core of fruit. This, too, has turned out nicely despite the challenges of the vintage.
The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Plessys comes from southwest-orientated vines on more clayey soils that contain a lot of active limestone. It is aged in demi-muids and regular barrels. This is immediate on the nose, with licorice complementing the leesy scents. There is impressive race and delineation here. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and vibrant, a bit more peppery than the Clos du Roy with more persistency. This is often one of Cornin's strongest performers, and this year is no different.
