Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly has a rather straightforward bouquet compared to its peers, not unattractive but missing the mineralité and tension of other growers. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a touch of spice on the entry but not quite delivering the complexity or personality that I was hoping for towards the finish. Given its showing in barrel, like one or two other En Remilly 2013s, I feel this is just tied up in a dumb phase and should come round with a couple more years in bottle.
