Fine mid crimson. Rather an attractive nose with some brambly red fruit. Cherries too and a little bit of raspberry, some wood tannins behind but the lively fruit turns up again behind. Two barrels made.
A deft application of wood sets off appealingly spicy aromas of plum, dark raspberry and a similar array of floral wisps. There is slightly better mid-palate density to the more mineral-inflected flavors that flash good if not distinguished persistence on the youthfully austere finale. Once again, this could use better depth but the underlying material, as well as the necessary structure, appears to be present for that to occur in time.
