2.5 barrels, with no new wood. 15% whole bunch vinification. A pale mid crimson. Soft strawberry fruit on the nose. The palate offers quite a volume of fruit, a more austere raspberry alongside the strawberry, and some white pepper to finish. Even the small amount of whole bunch vinification makes its presence felt. A fresh finish with good length.
Subtle but not imperceptible wood frames cool and restrained aromas of herbal tea, red pinot fruit and subtle spice wisps. The generously proportioned yet nicely precise and stony middleweight flavors possess very good power for the young vines, all wrapped in a balanced and markedly firm finale. This well-made effort is going to require at least a few years of patience to more completely unwind.
