Produced from a small, 60-year-old parcel wedged between those of the Domaines Georges de Vogue and Jacques-Frederic Muggier, the 2003 Musigny was destemmed by hand, “cluster by cluster, berry by berry,” according to Marchand. It vaunts a fabulous nose of black cherries, violets, blackberries, and spices. Medium to full-bodied, this silky-textured wine is pure, feminine, and reveals outstanding depth as well as length. Solidly structured and replete with copious tannin, it will require patience.
Marked by new oak, this red nonetheless shows its class. Silky and refined, it boasts a core of cherry, berry and floral notes, accented by licorice and spice. It has amazing balance for its ripeness, with a very long finish.
