The 2016 Vosne-Romanée La Colombière, which suffered only marginal frost damage, has a perfumed bouquet with blackcurrant pastille and blueberry scents, a little darker than the village cru in style but equally as sensual. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin, dark berry fruit laced with iodine, focused with a more floral finish than the village cru. Superb, especially for a village cru.
100% new oak, 300-litre. Barrel sample. Just above Clos du Château on clay soil. 65- to 95-year-old vines.
Very rich and vibrant on the nose. Real excitement and some sweetness. Tension and purity again. Very clean end and long. Silky tannins and such great life.
