The 1994 Clos de Vougeot has amber throughout its otherwise light mahogany-colored robe. Its spicy aromas are followed by a delicious, silky-textured, medium-to-full-bodied core of kirsch, black raspberries, and spices. Pinot Noirs often send mixed signals, and this one did with its evolved color and aromatics. Its character is still quite youthful, with fresh fruits and a solid structure.
Powerful, packing a lot of flavors into a tight bud that needs until around 2000 to open up. Full-bodied and dark-colored, this shapely wine shows some lovely plum, earth, mocha, spice, mineral and currant complexity.
