The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin. The fruit here veers more towards black than red, a touch of allspice and white pepper, leading to a structured and slightly curmudgeonly finish that does not "flow" like its peers. I felt this was just missing the nuance and complexity of the 2015 Echézeaux from Drouhin, though hopefully it will meliorate in bottle and make a mockery of my banded score.
James Suckling: Extremely floral and offering up slate, blue fruit and lemon rind. Medium-to full-bodied, firm, direct and structured with firm and racy tannins. Pretty length.
