Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Faiveley's 2014 Corton Clos des Cortons felt a little simplistic on the nose compared to its peers. Tightly wound cranberry and strawberry fruit, but there is not much in the way of mineralite. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, simple red berry fruit laced with dried orange peel and sage, leading to a satisfactory rather than extraordinary finish.
This is pure, featuring cherry, berry, floral and spice aromas and flavors married to a vivid structure. Firms up nicely as the fruit and supporting matrix build to a long finish.
