The Clos de Vougeot is gorgeous in 2009. This is an especially dark, brooding Clos Vougeot. Dark red cherries, plums, tar and licorice are some of the many notes that take shape in this explosive, beguiling Burgundy. The sheer energy and drive make the Clos Vougeot a standout. Graphite, mint and licorice linger on the pointed, focused finish.

Muscular and rigid, exhibiting a well of black cherry, currant and spice flavors, this red gains in both freshness and elegance from attack to finish. Shuts down in the end, with strong tannins and a tactile sensation. Be patient.
