Pure and complete, the 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques exhibits aromas of sweet red berries, potpourri, blood orange, spices and vine smoke, followed by a medium to full-bodied, seamless and fleshy palate, its deep core of fruit framed by sweet, velvety tannins. This shows terrific potential.
Cask sample. Fairly heady scent with a panoply of sweet fruit. Perhaps not the most complex Clos St-Jacques but almost certainly the least expensive! Good savoury edge to this. Long and rich.
Glowing mid purple. A very gorgeous bouquet, brilliant purity, has been like this all the way through. Not looking for descriptive words here, this is immaculate and has retained delicacy. Very long, very fine with some rose petals at the finish. Delicacy with tensile strength. No sign of a second-class vintage here!
