Aromatically demure, the black cherry-scented 2000 Volnay Taillepieds has a magnificent personality. Broad, sexy, expressive, and deep, it coats the taster's palate with loads of plump, sensual red cherries and blackberries. It has a satin-textured, gorgeous mouth-feel, a flamboyant personality, and lovely breadth as well as length. It lacks the complexity of the Marquis d'Angerville's finest wines yet delivers tons of supple fruit.
Attractive medium-bodied Pinot, offering deliciously ripe fruit, a chalky mineral character, sufficient tannins and a fresh finish. Sweet and balanced, it's an impressive effort in this difficult vintage.
Cask sample. Very, very deep crimson. Lively, crisp and appetising. Needs lots of time to show well. Slightly hard end.
