The second wine is called Hermitage La Petite Chapelle and the 2009 is an outstanding wine in its own right. Its intense ruby/purple color is followed by sweet aromas of blackberries, cassis, acacia flowers, earth and pepper. This ripe, rich, attractive 2009 should drink well for 15+ years.
A ripe, sleek, polished style, with winey currant, blackberry and a?a? berry fruit at the core, wrapped in prominent layers of roasted vanilla, anise and espresso. There's a slightly firm, stolid finish, but also enough length and density to merit cellaring in the hopes of more finesse emerging.
