The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru offers plenty of dark berries, briary, woodland scents on the nose – deep and penetrating. The palate is very structured with one particular barrel sample showing more backbone than other. The grip and intent are both palpable on the long, cola-tinged finish that brims over with energy. This is a multifaceted Clos de Vougeot endowed with a Pandora Box of delights down the road.
Hints of smoke and mineral ignite the black currant, black cherry and violet flavors in this dense, yet pure and elegant, red. Stays long and complex on the finish, but will need time for the nuances to emerge.
