While a step back from her incredible 2010 (and 2007!), Ferrando?s 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Colombis (100% Grenache from 60-100-year-old vines) is still an outstanding effort. Loaded with Grenache-driven aromas and flavors of black licorice, roasted herb, stony minerality and darker berry fruit, it has a chewy, broad feel on the palate, with good mid-palate depth and big tannin on the finish
Mid ruby with some evolution. Fruit not fresh enough (sample problem?). Rich and ruddy with some of the herbs and spices of the appellation so I am judging this as though the wine is in fact fresh. A tad simple but should make an easy early drink.
